Program Details
This accelerated 6-month program teaches the foundations of documentary and dramatic film making. You’ll gain essential skills and work with fellow students to write, produce and edit 6 short film projects.
The Foundation Film Program’s hands-on approach means you’ll start working with cameras on the first day of class. Interactive lectures and weekly camera, lighting and sound exercises will give you the skills to realize your artistic vision. Receive ongoing mentorship, and build your network in a city renowned for its dynamic film scene.

Directing
No matter the style of film you’re making, knowing how to manage and lead a team is essential to success. Award-winning directors teach you the intricacies of both dramatic and documentary film, mentoring you on how to become a successful director.
Screenwriting
Story is the heart of film. Established screenwriters teach the fundamentals of story development. You will create several short screenplays, with the class’ best being produced at the end of term.
Editing
Editors play a dynamic role in film production. They work creatively with images and music to set the pace and tone of a film and effectively tell the story. This course will teach you both the technical aspects of editing and how to edit as a storyteller.
Comprehensive Training
The Foundation Film Program will give you an understanding of all aspects of filmmaking. Other classes cover topics such as Documentary Story Development, Producing, Assistant Directing, Production Design and more.

Admission Requirements:
- TOEFL score of 68 internet based (ibT) or 520 paper based (PBT)
- TOEIC score of 700
- Cambridge ACE completion of any level, or First Certificate in English (FCE) Grade C
- IELTS Band 6.0
