Program Detail
Meet the growing demand in today’s marketplace for energy managers who understand and can implement energy-efficient equipment, energy management systems, and cost-effective alternative energy systems. NYIT’s energy management program will arm you with the professional knowledge and skills to:
- Develop and implement organizational policies for analyzing and improving energy— efficiency in commercial and industrial processes, facilities operations, and building design and construction.
- Manage the operation of new plants designed for onsite power generation using solar, wind, biomass, hydropower, or natural gas.
The far-reaching curriculum includes green buildings, power systems, and environmental issues, including:

Admission Requirements:
- Hold a four-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university in an engineering or science field.
- In special circumstances, other majors, including economics, management, architecture, or liberal arts, may be considered with a minimum of the following pre-requisite courses:
- PHYS-115 Humanity and the Physical Universe (3 credits)
- ECON-101 Basic Economics (3 credits)
- IENG-245 Statistical Design I (3 credits)
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85 (on a 4.0 scale).
- If you are an international student, demonstrate English proficiency by submitting a minimum score of 6.5 (IELTS) or 88 (TOEFL IBT).
- If the Energy Management department requests it, submit your score on the GRE, conducted by the Educational Testing Service.
